First Day of School

After going shopping at Sears and joining the KidVantage program (super program, they replace worn out clothes and shoes in the same size if you have the receipt) the boys are ready for the first day of school almost.... I forgot to go get them backpacks, oops :)

The two older boys are off to their first day of school today. Little J is going to 4th grade (can't believe I am mother to a 4th grader) and B is going to 1st grade. I hope they have a good day and listen to their teachers.

Chess and Cheese

The older two boys decided to play a game of chess...

And S. decided my camera was something fun to play with... So, while the boys were playing chess, I was teaching S to say "cheese!" Which he did about every other minute. He would walk over to me and say "cheese" so I would take his picture. I think his motive was for me to turn on the camera so he could try to take it from me.

The boys had to defend the chess board from S a few times.

After about ten minutes of playing Little J had B in checkmate.

B is still learning the game, for the most part he knows what pieces move where but firmly believes that if you take one of his pieces, you should let him take one of yours. I had to explain that isn't the way the game works.

They had fun playing and I got some cute pictures, or should I say proof they actually can play nicely together...

Project in the basement

So for the past 3 years we have been trying to finish a room in the basement for a play area for the boys. We started this project while Big J was on his first deployment. I bought all the supplies before he came home on leave. While he was on leave he and his dad started the project. After Big J went back overseas his dad and I worked more on the basement, mostly his dad. The basement wasn't even close to being done.... so when Big J came home from deployment he picked the task back up, he and his dad textured the walls and painted the primer. Then started deployment number 2. I bought all the paint two years ago, and finally we have started to use it!!!!
We have most of the walls painted. I have a little project I am working on for one of them and then there is the bookshelf...

We have Yellow!

Blue!!

More of the same Blue wall

Orange!!!

(Behind the sheet will be the guest room when we decide to finish that part)

And last but not least Beige.

(The area beyond the plastic is for a future bathroom to the left, and utility area leading to the cold storage on the right)

Then.....

This is my project, it will be plaid when all is said and done. Using all the colors in the basement and a little black for accent.

Gender Ultra Sound...

So I had my Ultra Sound to check the gender yesterday. The guy doing the ultra sound didn't get any pictures of the face, but got the important one of the gender specific parts. Since I am 21 weeks he said that there was a 1 in 10,000 chance that he was wrong. Have you guessed it yet? How about if I ask you to finish this phrase?... "Think ----"

I don't see a turtle and shell, do you? Then it must be.....

A cute little foot.

The spine, ribs, and bent knee

The heart and heart beat.

Legs crossed at the knees, being shy...

Have you guess it yet? We are going to have a precious little girl! I have a couple face shots on the video, I just have to get it put transferred from VHS to DVD and then I might be able to get a still of the face from the DVD. Perhaps I could even get one of those 3-D ultra sounds from the mall, but they are expensive, is it too early to start spoiling her?
